Verdant Pest Control emerged as a business entity in late 2021, during a time when much of the world was still navigating the lasting effects of the pandemic. Businesses were adapting to new challenges, mask mandates remained in place, and the economy felt as unpredictable as the weather patterns of New England. What began as a small operation quickly grew. Verdant first served customers in Massachusetts before expanding into our home state of Connecticut. In 2023, we further extended our services into Rhode Island, allowing us to provide pest management solutions throughout much of southern New England.
While Verdant itself is a relatively young company, its founder, Lance Trovato, brings nearly two decades of experience in the pest control industry. Lance began working in pest management in 2006 with the original intention of eventually pursuing a career in law enforcement. However, something unexpected happened along the way—he discovered a genuine appreciation for the pest control profession.
To be clear, this appreciation did not manifest in unusual ways such as eating insects or wearing raccoon hats.
Rather, it came from the freedom of working independently, solving real-world problems, traveling throughout different communities, and meeting people from all walks of life. Pest control also offers something that many professions do not: an endless opportunity to learn. Every structure is different, every pest behaves differently, and every day presents a new challenge.
In 2007, Lance launched his first pest control business, operating independently for over a decade before selling the company in 2018. After briefly working within the corporate side of the pest management industry, he ultimately returned to what he enjoyed most—building a local company that prioritizes personal service, quality workmanship, and lasting customer relationships. Verdant Pest Control was born from that vision.
Today, Verdant Pest Control provides a wide range of services designed to protect both homes and businesses from pest-related risks. Our work includes general insect control for pests such as ants, wasps, spiders, and bed bugs, as well as comprehensive rodent control programs that often involve exclusion work, sanitation improvements, fecal cleanup, and insulation restoration. Verdant also specializes in nuisance wildlife control, addressing animals such as raccoons, squirrels, bats, skunks, opossums, and woodchucks. In addition, we provide seasonal mosquito and tick control services to help reduce vector-borne pests that can impact both human and pet health.
Our experience spans many types of properties, including residential homes, apartment buildings, restaurants, schools, daycares, manufacturing facilities, warehouses, municipal properties, and commercial buildings. Regardless of the setting, our goal remains the same: to protect the health and comfort of the people who live and work there.
Verdant approaches pest management through the principles of Integrated Pest Management (IPM), focusing not only on treatment but also on prevention. Whenever possible, we emphasize structural corrections, exclusion work, and environmental improvements that reduce pest pressures naturally. This approach allows us to provide long-term solutions while minimizing unnecessary pesticide use.
Environmental stewardship is also an important part of Verdant’s mission. Through partnerships with global reforestation initiatives, we plant a tree for every service we provide. In addition, 1% of all credit card payments are directed toward verified carbon removal programs that help offset emissions associated with our operations. In the future, we hope to host community tree-planting events around Earth Day as a way to give back locally while contributing to global conservation efforts.
Verdant Pest Control remains a locally owned and operated company committed to honest, reliable service. In addition to traditional pest control programs, we also provide exclusion services, wildlife damage repairs, sanitation services, and other structural improvements designed to keep pests out for good.

Verdant Pest Control derives its name from the concept of being "green" or abundant with lush greenery. Our specialization lies in providing environmentally friendly or organic pest control services, a niche that sets us apart from many other companies. Our team boasts over 15 years of experience in utilizing essential oils and organic baits for pest management. Our commitment to green living extends beyond pest control; it is a passion that permeates every aspect of our operations. Our overarching objective is to employ methods that effectively address pest infestations without causing harm to the environment. We aim to achieve pest control rather than eradicating entire species, aligning our practices with the principles of responsible ecological stewardship.
